Atwood rink closes temporarily

North Perth reports the temporary closure of the outdoor rink in Atwood due to liability issues.

It was built, is owned, and operated by the Atwood Lions Club on property leased from the town.

The current insurance policy does not cover the Lions Club or their members as Operators.

So the Municipality said it decided to close the rink to protect the club and the town from significant legal risk.  The closure is short term while they resolve the insurance issue. Staff will bring a report to council soon suggesting various solutions.
