Wellington North bylaw enforcement being contracted out to the City of Guelph

Bylaw enforcement in the Township of Wellington North is going to be provided by the City of Guelph in the new year.

The bylaw officers will enforce property standards, swimming pool enclosures, door-to-door sales, and zoning infractions.

In a release the Township calls the newly signed agreement "an example of how neighbouring municipalities can work together to share expertise" and says it's "another step in evaluating the way Wellington North does business."

For now the agreement is a one-year pilot starting January 1st.

Wellington North Chief Building Official, Darren Jones, says they will be getting regular reports to assess and modify the service and fill in any gaps in delivery.

It will be evaluated in 2022 to see what's working, what needs adjusting, and get feedback from the community. At that time they will determine if the arrangement will continue.
