New COVID-19 school outbreaks reported in Midwestern Ontario

Several new COVID-19 cases, and a couple of new school outbreaks were reported in Midwestern Ontario Friday.

Huron Perth Public Health added eleven new cases of COVID-19 Friday, and 82 active cases. There were three new cases in Stratford, four in North Perth, and one each in West Perth, Perth East, Huron East, Howick and Goderich. One case was transferred to another health unit. Three people are hospitalized with the virus. There are five active school based outbreaks, including Elma Township Public School, Milverton Public School, and North Perth Westfield Elementary School.

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health reports five hospitalizations due to COVID-19. There were 44 new cases, eight in Wellington. Nine new cases were in Mapleton, eight in Wellington North and four in Minto.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit added ten new cases. There were two in Hanover, South Bruce, and Southgate. And one each in Arran-Elderslie, Grey Highlands, Kincardine, and The Blue Mountains. There are 53 active cases and no residents are in local hospitals with the virus. There are outbreaks at Holland Chatsworth Central School and Timothy Christian School.
