New COVID-19 infections reported across region

The Grey Bruce Health unit added three new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, one in Meaford, one in Saugeen Shores, and one in South Bruce. There are 47 active cases. One resident is currently hospitalized with the virus. 

Huron Perth Public Health added seven new cases, two in North Perth, two in West Perth, and one each in Bluewater, Central Huron, and Perth East. There are 59 active cases. Six residents are currently hospitalized with the virus. 

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health saw a spike in cases, adding 35 new infections Wednesday, including 11 in Wellington County. There are 40 active cases in Wellington. Three residents are currently hospitalized with the virus.

New daily COVID-19 cases in Ontario are above one-thousand again today, with the province reporting 1,009. Eight new deaths from the virus were also reported today.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says 443 of the new cases are in people who aren't fully vaccinated, and 64 are in people whose vaccination status isn't known. There are 155 patients in intensive care due to COVID-19 at this time.
