Everyone in Midwestern Ontario is reminded to prepare for the return of deer hunting next week, including those using public areas like trails or forests.
The season for deer hunting begins on Monday, November 1st and runs until the end of the week.
Ontario's Ministry of Natural Resources Hunting Regulations Summary shows how the region is separated and the various regulations for each region.
For hunting in areas Huron, Perth and Wellington, only shotguns and muzzle-loaded guns are allowed. For areas in Bruce and Grey, rifles, shotguns and muzzle-loaded guns are allowed.
For everyone using county-owned forests is reminded to ensure they are visible, and aware that others may be nearby, and trail users should avoid using trails from dawn until dusk, and anytime that visibility is limited.
Dressing in "Hunter Orange" can also help, and even pets should wear bright colours as well, orange if possible, while avoiding beige, brown, white and green articles of clothing.
Anyone participating in deer hunting is reminded to avoid hunting along any trails or in areas with active trail use, and be aware that you may be sharing the forest with other hunters if in public forests.
Hunters should never, ever shoot unless they are absolutely sure of their target, and what is beyond it.
The dates also vary from November 1 to 6 in areas of Bruce and Grey counties, but is one extra day, to November 7 in other areas of the province.

In fact, rifles are only allowed in some areas of the province, including Bruce and Grey. Rifles are not permitted for deer hunting in areas of Huron, Perth and Wellington.
