COVID-19 claims another life in Midwestern Ontario

Huron Perth Public Health reported another fatality today due to COVID-19. 62 residents have now died from the virus. Public health added another four cases of COVID-19 Thursday, in North Huron, Huron East, Central Huron and South Huron. There are 32 active cases, and six residents are hospitalized due to the virus. 81.1% of eligible residents are partially vaccinated and 74.8% have both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit added two new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, one in Arran-Elderslie and one in Brockton. There are 20 active cases, and four residents are hospitalized with the virus. 82.6% of the Eligible population have one dose and 77.2% are fully vaccinated.

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health reported six residents are hospitalized due to COVID-19. Ten cases were added in the region Thursday, three of them in Wellington, where there are 18 active cases. There are active cases in both Minto and Mapleton. 85.4% of residents are partially vaccinated and 80% are fully vaccinated.

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
