UPDATE: Thousands without power

Updated 11:55 a.m. September 8, 2021

Hydro One reports about 6500 customers are still without power after last night's severe weather.

The largest outages are located in the Port Elgin, Kincardine and Lucknow areas. Restoration times range from 6 to 11pm tonight.

Westario power reports about 75% of their customers in the town of Port Elgin, along with all customers in Neustadt, Harriston and Clifford have had their power restored.

Westario Power crews continue to complete restoration work for the remaining customers experiencing power outages in Port Elgin

a media release reported multiple poles were damaged in last evening’s storm and are currently being replaced – estimated time of restoration (ETR) is currently unknown.

Westario Power continues restoration efforts north of the Saugeen River in Southampton; customers north of the river will continue to experience power outages while crews work to clear fallen trees which caused downed lines in the area.  The Operations Team is also investigating isolated outages in Lucknow.

People are reminded to stay clear of any fallen power lines – these power lines are difficult to see and have the potential to remain energized – this is an extremely dangerous situation.

In Lucknow, damage was extensive in areas and images were shared through social media.
