The Town of Hanover is looking to the province for help solving its problem of finding more developable land.
At the virtual Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference, members of Hanover council and staff requested the assistance of parliamentary assistant to the minister of municipal affairs and housing Jim McDonnell, noting that finding more land to develop on is critical to Hanover's future.
Earlier this summer, Hanover was turned down by nearby Brockton council regarding a request to discussion potential land annexation.
Reviews in both 2019 & 2020 found that Hanover will have a shortfall of vacant urban-designated land supply over the next 25 years, and advised the town to seek additional land outside of the current municipal boundary.
