Bruce and Grey counties to host "Welcoming Week" to encourage unity in local communities

Bruce and Grey counties will be hosting a "Welcoming Week" to encourage more unity in local communities.

In a joint press release, the counties say that the event will be aimed at celebrating diversity and "continue to foster an inclusive community and welcome newcomers." Welcoming Week will run from September 10th to the 19th and will help to bring together new residents to the area and longtime residents, too. The Grey Bruce Local Immigration Partnership is running the event.

The release states Welcoming Week will enhance the work to "foster a welcoming and inclusive community and support newcomer retention."

“Grey County is privileged to see an influx of newcomers who are choosing to bring their skills, experience and insights to our communities. Welcoming Week is a great way to show newcomers that they are appreciated, and that we look forward to including and celebrating the diversity and resiliency they bring into all aspects of life in Grey,” says Grey County Warden, Selwyn Hicks.

“Bruce County is proud to be partnering with Grey County to hold our first annual Welcoming Week to promote diversity and inclusion throughout our communities and support the work of the Grey Bruce Local Immigration Partnership,” says Bruce County Warden Janice Jackson.
