Single-vehicle crash claims life of Brockton man

Provincial police in South Bruce County are investigating a fatal crash over the weekend in the municipality of Brockton.

According to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), just before 8:30 p.m. Sunday, emergency crews responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision somewhere along Side Road 5 west of Walkerton.

Investigators have since determined that the vehicle came off the road and struck a tree. Firefighters with the Brockton Fire Department extricated the driver, and he was later taken to a trauma centre by Ornge.

Police have since confirmed a 28-year-old Brockton man died as a result of the crash.

Part of the road was closed overnight while the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement team assisted with the investigation.
