In anticipation of the Province moving out of Step 3 of Reopening Ontario, Saugeen Shores council began considering the option to move to in-person meetings.
Mayor, Luke Charbonneau, says the topic was discussed at their Committee of the Whole meeting on Monday.
“There’s certainly an eagerness on Council to get back to in-person meetings and a real acknowledgement of the importance of that," Charbonneau said. "But I think there’s also some trepidation there about the current situation with COVID-19.”
Charbonneau says with the threat of a fourth wave of COVID-19, the safest option is to continue remote work.
“We are able to meet successfully remotely and do the work of the municipality that way. I think there was a sense that we should wait a little bit longer to see how things shake out before we all get back together in the same room for meetings again.”
Charbonneau adds council will revisit the possibility of moving to in-person meetings in October.
