Walking and reading in Hensall

A group in Hensall has created a new way for families with children read some children's books while discovering parts of the village.

Co-Ordinator Miranda Burgess says the Storywalk provides families the opportunity to walk along a path and ready pages of a children's book that's installed on stands.

“People walk along the path and they read pages of a children's book that's installed on stands. And it starts at the Christian Community Church, to the library, to the health centre in Hensall, the park, Ro Ro's,” said Burgess.

There could be anywhere from two to four pages of a story on each stand and then the story is continued on the next stand.

She says she got the idea from seen similar displays in other communities.

"There were some in Parkhill, there were some in Exeter, along the trails and there was a group that had come together in Hensall who had wanted to work on a project for activities for families and kids,” added Burgess.
