Victim identified in fatal collision near Chatsworth Friday

Grey Bruce OPP have identified the driver of a motorcycle who passed away following a collision near Chatsworth Friday.

On July 23, 2021, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Grey County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and the Inter Township Fire Department responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 6-10 in the Municipality of Meaford. Officers noted a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and a motorcycle were involved in the crash.

The driver of the motorcycle, Craig Heatley, 55-years-old, of Bradford-West Gwillimbury, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The passenger on the motorcycle was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Staff Seargent Heatley was a 31-year-veteran of the York Regional Police , and was off-duty when the accident occurred.

The driver of the SUV was taken to a local hospital to be assessed.

Highway 6 & 10 was closed between the Holland-Syndenham Line and Sunny Valley Road for the protection of emergency responders. It has since re-opened to traffic.

The investigation is continuing.
