UPDATE: OPP investigate fatal crash near Clifford

Updated at 4:30 p.m.

Huron County OPP members are investigating a fatal collision that took place early Friday morning near Clifford.

Shortly before 6:30 a.m. South Bruce OPP, Huron County OPP, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Minto Fire Department responded to a single motor vehicle collision located on Highway 9 (Elora Street).

Upon arrival first responders located an SUV that had left the roadway and collided with a large tree. The driver was found without vital signs.

The lone driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

He has been identified as 38 year old Kirk Huber from Mildmay.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place Saturday.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation with the assistance from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team.

The road was closed for several hours, but reopened just after 1:00 pm Friday.

Anyone with information regarding this crash should immediately contact Huron OPP.

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
