The Huron County Immigration Partnership is hosting a virtual mental health information session Tuesday afternoon.
Immigration Partnership Support Officer Hana Aria says the session is being facilitated by the Huron Perth Canadian Mental Health Association along with community partners.
The session will start with a general understanding of mental health and how to manage oneself when faced with setbacks, understanding what it can look like and getting some tools to take care of yourself in those moments and then Huron Perth Canadian Mental Health Association will be focusing on sharing more services that they offer.
Aria says their focus is specifically on newcomers to the area because there is a huge lack of access for newcomers who might not know where to go.
“So we like to let them know that we're here for them, these are our services, this is what's going on, this is community information and just giving things that will help them throughout this time,” said Aria. “And how to manage oneself when faced with setbacks, understanding what it can look like and getting some tools to take care of yourself in those moments and then Huron Perth Canadian Mental Health Association will be focusing on sharing more services that they offer.”
Aria points out that life can be challenging enough for someone new to the community, with no social contact.
The information session runs from 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
