Goderich Mayor, John Grace, says the town's flag will be lowered today and for a number of days to show respect and support for First Nations peoples, following the discovery of a mass grave of children at a former residential school in B.C.
“The discovery of the mass grave in Kamloops is absolutely heart-wrenching. These are dark days in Canada's history. The town of Goderich will lower its flag to half-mast today and for a number of days in respect and support of our First Nations peoples.”
Advocates nationwide are now asking to have other residential school sites scanned.
