Georgian Bluffs joins many other governments across Canada in lowering flag in memory of Indigenous children

Georgian Bluffs has joined other municipal governments, as well as provincial and federal entities, in lowering their flags to honour the 215 Indigenous children whose remains were found at a former residential school in Kamloops, B.C. last week.

In a statement, Georgian Bluff says "Flags at Township facilities have been lowered as a sign of collective mourning of the remains of 215 children found at the site of a former residential school in Kamloops, BC."

"The flags will be lowered for 215 hours or 9 days - one hour per life of the children in memoriam. We honour the survivors of residential schools, their families and communities."
