Two Owen Sound restaurants reopen after COVID cluster thwarted

The Grey Bruce Health Unit is thanking two restaurants in Owen Sound for voluntarily closing and stopping the spread of a cluster of COVID-19 cases.

In a release the health unit says there was never any risk to the public and the restaurants reopened today.

Three staff members contracted the virus.

The health unit says everyone cooperated with their case and contact management team in seeking testing and self-isolating.

“This is a textbook example demonstrating that following public health direction can quickly avert any significant transmission.” said Dr. Ian Arra, Grey Bruce Medical Officer of Health. “Determining who is a close contact is one of the functions of public health but we need that assistance from the public to make informed decisions. We applaud the cooperation that was provided.”
