Wellington North Fire responds to back to back structure fires

Wellington North Fire responded to back to back structure fires this week.

On Monday at about 7:00pm, firefighters arrived on scene of an apartment building with all occupants out of the building in the area of John St in Mt. Forest.

The fire was contained to one apartment after a quick response from Mt. Forest, with help from Arthur and Minto Fire’s Harriston Station.

Guelph-Wellington Paramedics treated and transported the family of the apartment unit to hospital as a precaution for smoke inhalation as well as assessed multiple other tenants.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and damages are estimated to be around $50 000.

Then, on Tuesday at about 10:30pm, Wellington North Fire responded to a fire on Industrial Drive in Mt. Forest. Officials say there was smoke showing out a storage warehouse containing garbage.

The fire was contained to the contents of the building with little damage to the warehouse. The cause of the fire is unknown and damages are being assessed.

Wellington North Fire would like to thank all firefighters for their hard work and dedication as well as their partner agencies for the excellent responses over the past few days.
