Listowel man flips for nutrition

A Listowel man flipped a 400 lb tire 350 times Monday night to help raise money for local school nutrition programs.

40-year old Chris Kurz isn't a stranger to fundraising events. In the past he's pulled an Olympia ice resurfacer, and ran 64 km in full firefighter gear to help raise money for various community initiatives.

Monday night's event involved flipping the 400-pound tire in the parking lot of Dynafit University after the COVID-19 pandemic forced his hand. The original plan was to flip the tire around the track at the Listowel fairgrounds.

The event drew hundreds of supportive comments throughs social media as the event was streamed live.

And so far, over $24,000 has been raised. Donations can still be made until June 5th at canadahelps.org, just search for the Chris Kurz fund.
