Vaccine eligibility has been expanded by Huron Perth Public Health to include those aged 55 and up.
Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Miriam Klassen, made the announcement following news that Ontario is accelerating its vaccine rollout.
"Although we are fully booked for the next week, there are appointments available for clinics taking place between May 11th and May 29th. We've had an enthusiastic uptake from our senior population and we are pleased to expand our eligibility."
The increase of vaccines will allow the province to boost the number of vaccines given to hot spots areas in the next few days, and open up appointments to all adults in the province by the end of May.
Klassen reminds residents to not arrive to a mass vaccination clinic without an appointment.
"Huron Perth has a process for administering any end of day doses, and this process involves a list of eligible vaccination candidates. Please do not come to a Huron Perth Public Health clinic if you do not have an appointment as there will not be an opportunity to receive a vaccine."
