Plans for retail and entertainment huts on beaches put on hold

The Mayor of Goderich says plans to put retail and entertainment huts on the beaches in Goderich have been put on hold.

John grace says a lot of people were very excited about the pilot project, but he says the uncertainty around the pandemic convinced them to put it off until next year.

"We will defer the roll out of the water front retail and animation pilot project for Goderich. And that was something that we were all excited to see happen, something new and innovative, but we don't know what's going to happen in two or three months."

Grace adds council put public safety ahead of anything else

"I can tell you that council's position is based on public safety, first and foremost and we don't feel that we should go ahead with the water front retail and animation pilot project until 2022."
