Huron-Kinloss issues burn ban

Huron-Kinloss has a burn ban in place with immediate effect.

According to a release on April 15th, Huron-Kinloss Fire Chief Chris Cleave has issued a "Total Burn Ban For the entire Township of Huron-Kinloss and for the response area within the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh serviced by the Lucknow & District Fire Department." The ban applies to all open air burns, beach fires or any recreational fires such as backyard or camp fires. The ban will be in effect until further notice.

Huron-Kinloss states in the release that the burn ban has been put in place to "protect our first responders and to limit their contact with COVID-19 and the COVID-19 variants of concern."

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
