Annual clean up initiative will look different this year

The Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation is making some changes to its annual shoreline clean-up.

Alysaa Bourassa is the Coastal Stewardship Technician and says things had to change because of the pandemic.

"So the Coastal Centre is encouraging people to do either solo or small group clean ups instead and the easiest way to do this is through the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup website. Choose a date and location and they will help you through the rest," said Bourassa.

Bourassa says they also want to make sure that everyone stays safe and observes Health Unit protocols and suggests people scope out their clean-up location and choose a time of day when it's not crowded.

More information can be found at lakehuron.ca and there is also a safety check list on the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup website that people can follow.
