County's Economic Development team encouraging businesses to apply for Small Business Support Grant

The Bruce County Economic Development team is encouraging local businesses to apply for a provincial grant designed to aid small businesses.

In a release on March 25th, Bruce County's Economic Development team details how small businesses are able to apply for Ontario's Small Business Support Grant. The grants are from $10,000 up to $20,000 and it only takes roughly ten minutes to apply according to the release. The grants are non-repayable, and are in place to help small businesses impacted by COVID-19 get additional capital to help with the financial challenges brought on by the pandemic. Businesses must meet the following criteria:

-Required to close or significantly restrict services due to the Province-wide shutdown effective December 26, 2020. -Less than 100 employees. -Experienced a minimum of 20% revenue decline comparing April 2020 to April 2019 revenues.

The release also states that "Sole proprietors, partnerships, corporations, not-for-profit entities and charitable organizations are all eligible to apply." The roughly ten minute application process requires basic information on the business, revenue for April 2019 to April 2020, and business banking information.

Any businesses that apply are being entered into a draw to win a Shop Local prize pack featuring gift cards to spend at local Bruce County businesses.
