February turned out to be another record-breaker for home sales in Huron and Perth counties.
According to a report from the Huron Perth Association of Realtors, the number of homes sold through the MLS system in Huron-Perth totaled 147 units, representing a modest decline of 3.9% compared to February 2020.
The big jump came in the value of a home, jumping up 27% to a record $536,663.
The report notes that the more comprehensive year-to-date average price was $526,663, up 26.5% from the first two months of 2020.
In the release, President of the Huron-Perth Association of Realtors Kathy Dawson says "February's home sales may have edged down from the same month last year, but were actually just seven sales away from tying the February record from 2017".
"New listings were up in February but given that overall inventories are still sitting at record lows, it appears that all of that new supply was gone as fast as it came".
There were 154 new residential listings in Huron-Perth in February, a decline of 5.5% compared to the same time last year.
At the end of February, there were 116 active residential listings on the market, down 59.7% from the end of February 2020.
