Child abduction charges laid in connection to Bayfield Amber Alert

Huron County Ontario Provincial Police report they have charged a resident of Markham with Child Abduction following an incident that took place in Central Huron this week.

Shortly after 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, officers were told a child had been abducted from a residence located near Bayfield, and issued an Amber Alert.

Police launched an investigation and shortly after 11:00 a.m., the child was safely located in the City of Toronto. Additionally, with the assistance of York Regional Police & Toronto Police Service, a suspect was taken into custody without incident.

A 30-year-old resident of Markham has since been charged with Abduction of a Person under sixteen years of age. The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 15, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
