Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker has announced some funding for the Sauble Beach Community Centre.
In a release on March 9th, Walker details how the Sauble Beach Community Centre is receiving a grant of $54,014.41 from the province. The funding is part of the province's 14.3 million dollar investment to support nearly 300 Seniors Active Living Centre programs in 2020-21. This grant will help local seniors stay safe and socially connected through virtual and remote programs in Sauble Beach. This year's funding from the province will go toward virtual programs such as teleconferences, online videos and one-on-one phone calls to help seniors stay connected from home.
Programs supported by theSeniors Active Living Centre funding include interactive telephone-based group programming for socially isolated seniors and people with disabilities and online educational programs such as tax clinics, technology assistance, health and wellness, and COVID-19 information.
“Given the social isolation that COVID-19 has brought to many seniors, it is important that we look to programs that will keep them safe and connected,” says Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility. “Our government’s investment in Seniors Active Living Centres will help older adults stay virtually engaged with their friends, family and communities while combatting social isolation during the pandemic.”
