Bayfield's Main Street Revitalization Committee held its last virtual public meeting in this round last week.
Bayfield Ward councillor, Bill Whetstone, says no decisions were made but there was lots of discussion and several issues were identified. Whetstone points out the main street is a heritage district and whatever plan they put in place has to tie into heritage. Whetstone says there are a few key remaining issues.
"So making sure the road doesn't narrow, burying the hydro wires, obviously getting rid of the water issue, which is what started this a long time ago, sidewalks, what is that going to look like, curbs, if we have to have curbs on their, painted crosswalks, obviously that's not really heritage, we get rid of that."
Whetstone says a report coming back from staff will address those issues and then council will have to decide if they want to more forward with the current plan.
"Do we want to move forward with the current plan. Do we want to go back to the drawing board and re-look at doing it. You have to remember, right now we don't even have budget in the current plan to bury the hydro wires and it was loud and clear that behind fixing the water, burying the hydro wires was next."
Whetstone says they're still inviting comments from the public until March 27th so he doesn't expect the report to come to council until late in April and then he believes it will go out to the public again for more comment.
