**Updated as of 11:30 a.m., March 8th, 2021**

Stratford Police Service officers remain on-scene at what they're calling a "serious motor vehicle collision" this morning that has now claimed a life

This morning just after 7 a.m., Stratford Police Service confirmed on Twitter that Perth Road 113 would be closed between Line 26 and Erie St. in Stratford due to a serious motor vehicle collision investigation that occurred just after 6 a.m. Perth East Fire Department also attended the scene and have since left. Police later confirmed the collision was between a van travelling east on Line 29 and a transport truck travelling south on Road 113, and as a result of the crash at the intersection, one driver was taken to hospital, where they later died as a result of their injuries.

The Stratford Police Service is asking drivers to avoid the area, and confirmed that a number of drivers have been charged already for ignoring and driving through road closure signs. The roadway remains closed as police continue to investigate. More details as they are made available.
