The SIU isn't pursuing any further action in regards to a man who ignited gasoline in a vehicle in Kincardine.
The incident happened on June 16 of last year.
The OPP responded to a call about a 36-year old who was threatening suicide. According the to the SIU, the man was located in a remoted wooded area on a maintenance road.
The first officer to arrive attempted to engage the man in conversation but after 30 minutes, the man got into a van, closed the door and proceeded to ignite the gasoline in the vehicle.
Firefighters had been stationed nearby and were able to extinguish the flames and the man was removed from the van and taken to hospital for treatment.
The Director of the Special Investigations Unit, Joseph Martino, has determined there are no reasonable grounds to believe that an officer committed a criminal offence in connection with the man’s injuries.
