A provincial working group is currently going through the Province's revised Conservation Authority Act.
Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority General Manager, Brian Horner, says the group is taking a close look at how to implement the legislation.
“In January the Ministry developed a working group, which is made up of ten members from conservation authorities, as well as municipal representation and the mandate of that group is to actually develop the regulations that will help to implement the legislation,” said Horner. “I think it's good news that of the ten members on the working group, it's about eight represent conservation authorities and the chair of the group is actually the president and C-E-O of the Halton Conservation Authority.”
Horner says there is also a sub-group that has been set up to assist the working group and he says that group has more developers and municipal people and some agricultural representatives on it as well as a few conservation authority representatives.
And while a first meeting was held in late January, the group is scheduled to meet bi-weekly with a goal of having something to present to the conservation authorities later this summer.
