Huron County reviewing speed limits on county roads

Huron County Engineer, Steve Lund says the county is adjusting some of the speed limits on county roads.

The speed limit on most county roads is 90 km/h and Lund says they've received some comments suggesting that is no longer appropriate in some areas.

“We have had requests coming from the public, from the municipalities, as well as concerns from county council with respect to speed limits, mainly outside of the built-up areas within the county, where development occurs on the periphery, the posted speed limits need to be moved out slightly,” said Lund.

Lund says the county is adjusting the speed limit from 90 to 70 km/h as a safe transition to the 50 km/h limit within the built-up areas.
