OPP seize drugs and cash following execution of search warrant

The Grey-Bruce OPP have laid numerous drug related charges following the execution of a search warrant.

On February 18th, Grey-Bruce OPP officers were assisted by members of the Grey-Bruce and Huron-Perth OPP Community Street Crime Units and the OPP Emergency Response Team in executing a search warrant at a residence on Victoria Street in the Municipality of Meaford. Police seized Percocet, dried Cannabis and Cannabis edibles, along with Canadian currency and drug paraphernalia as a result of the search warrant. Police have laid charges against a 52-year-old Meaford resident following the completion of the investigation.

The accused is facing charges including possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking. The accused has a court date scheduled for March 25th at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound. The charges have yet to be proven in a court of law.

The charges against the accused are as follows:

-Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purposing in trafficking - opioid, section 5(2) Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA) -Possession for the purpose of distributing, section 9(2) Cannabis Act (CA) -Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, section 10(2) CA

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
