Public health authorities are changing the way case and contact management is being done because of COVID-19 variants.
In a release from the Grey Bruce Health Unit, it's stated that current reporting shows the incubation period for these variant strains can be shorter, resulting in rapid transmission and early containment is essential.
Changes include a revised definition of high-risk contacts to reflect the increased risk of transmission and high-risk contacts and their household will be asked to follow more rigorous self-isolation and testing protocols.
There are three variants that have been determined to be in the province. Each one had been identified in different parts of the world; one in the UK, one in South Africa and the third in Brazil.
The health unit says none are in Grey and Bruce at this time.
