COVID-19 case associated with Grey Bruce school bus route

The Grey Bruce Health Unit is working to address a single case of COVID-19 associated with a school bus route.

Although the case is linked to a bus route, the Grey Bruce Health Unit said their assessment so far found that transmission did not occur in the bus or school environment.

There are no currently outbreaks in any bus routes, schools or childcare centres in Grey Bruce.

Public Health will only contact those that have had close contact with someone that has COVID-19. Only those who are required to take additional steps have been contacted within 24 hours of Public Health's investigation.

In this situation, the Health Unit said the person with COVID-19 has been contacted directly by the COVID-19 Case and Contact Management Team.

"We are working with the individuals and the bus company, along with the relevant school boards to identify others, both in and out of the bus environment, who may have been exposed and to determine their risk level," said Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Arra in a statement.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit will direct those considered at risk regarding testing requirements and recommendations.
