The Mayor of South Bruce Peninsula says Wiarton Willie will be on the job this February 2nd as he always is on Ground Hog Day.
But Janice Jackson said there will be one difference this year, thanks to COVID-19.
"He's still going to be doing his prediction, just after eight o'clock in the morning on Ground Hog Day but it will be a virtual prediction." said Jackson. "So due to COVID we've had to cancel the festival and the whole morning prediction event, which is really unfortunate because it was our 65th anniversary this year."
There will be a link to the prediction on the town's web site.
"We had planned wild and wonderful things, but we're just going to put that off until next year and go with a virtual prediction this year. And I believe all of the national broadcasters will still carry it, just after eight in the morning. So you can tune into radio stations, television stations, whatever you choose."
