Huron Bruce MPP welcomes additional racetrack funding

Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson says the Clinton Raceway will benefit from an extra $3 million per year in provincial funding until 2026.

Thompson says the province has developed a new three-year strategic business plan that will support a 15-track model, which will ensure stability and predictability.

“I have always been a strong advocate for Ontario horse racing,” Thompson said. “We have an excellent in Clinton that is very popular. Like all racetracks, the Clinton Raceway provides good jobs, exciting entertainment, and is a very important part of the region’s economic development and local tourism.”

Thompson said horse racing employs thousands of people across the province and is an important part of rural economies in Ontario. “Supporting the industry is crucial to ensuring its vitality for generations to come”.

She says like many other sectors in Ontario, the horse racing industry has been significantly impacted by the pandemic, requiring a focus on stability and recovery.
