Local MPP bids farewell to 2020, welcomes new year

Huron Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson credits community efforts for making a very challenging 2020 into a year of possibility, and would like to thank healthcare and essential workers for their hard work over the course of the pandemic.

“From the hotel availability that the county of Huron made for people who didn’t have housing, to our community living association. Everyone has put every best effort forward. It’s been an absolute honour to work alongside them.”

Looking ahead, Thompson says her government has three areas they will continue to work on in 2021.

“Keeping people safe, helping our businesses and economy recover, and moving forward. Looking ahead, as we protect Ontarians, we support every effort to do that to help our communities recover.”

She adds that lowering hydro rates and decreasing property taxes will remain some of their priorities.

Thompson says due to challenges arising from COVID-19, her annual Remarkable Citizens award ceremony is postponed until February, and will recognize over 30 individuals who were nominated from Huron and Bruce counties.
