Huron County adjusts some speed limits

Huron County is making some adjustments to speed limits in three locations in the county.

County Engineer Steve Lund said they've reduced limit on some sections of county roads including County Road 83 east of Dashwood.

“We've reduced the speed limit to 70 km/h, there's a section there, and extending the 50 km/h further to the east and that will also help protect a couple of homes that are just on the east end of Dashwood, plus introducing the 70 km/h speed zone as an intermediate zone between the 90 and the 50,” said Lund.

Lund said the second change is on County Road 86 near Whitechurch. The proposal was to drop the speed limit from 70 to 60 km/h and also extending to the west by 70 metres and to the east by 40 metres. Lund adds that has to be coordinated with Bruce County so they're not 100 per cent sure that one's going ahead.

The third change is on County Road 4, north of Wingham.

“There's been some residential development at the north end so we're extending the 50 km/h speed limit 250 metres to the north, and that's north of the B Line, and then the 70 km/h sign would be moved another 250 metres north. Again there's a transition zone there,” added Lund.
