First case of COVID-19 confirmed in Chippewa’s of Nawash First Nation

Grey-Bruce Public Health has confirmed the first case of COVID-19 on Chippewa’s of Nawash First Nation within Neyaashiinigmiing.

In the daily COVID-19 report from Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Arra, it was confirmed that a case of COVID-19 has been found within the Chippewa’s of Nawash First Nation community. Grey-Bruce Public Health will be working closely with the Chief and Council, the Federal representatives and the Community Health Centre to ensure all case and contact management is done in accordance with both federal and provincial law.

Overall, Grey-Bruce had 8 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, with 2 in Blue Mountains, 2 in Southgate, 1 in West Grey, 1 in Neyaashiinigmiing, 1 in Meaford and 1 in Owen Sound. There are 33 active cases in Grey-Bruce, 17 probable cases with 429 recovered. 2 people are in hospital in Grey-Bruce with COVID-19. There have been no deaths reported in Grey-Bruce as a result of the virus.
