The Operations Manager for the Chamber of Commerce in Goderich, North Huron and Central Huron, says there is no doubt the current lockdown in southern Ontario will have some impact on members.
But the lockdown was not unexpected and members have learned how to set up alternatives for customers since the first lockdown.
“A lot of people have already developed online shopping or other alternatives. They already have the system in place for curb-side pickup or takeout food and the public is used to that at this point,” said Heather Boa. “We are entering into a slower, post-Christmas season where there's not as much shopping taking place. I think that everybody expected that this Province-wide lockdown would come, so it's not a surprise.”
Boa adds one of the biggest efforts at this point will be getting the message out to shop local and conveying how important it is to the health of the community to do as much as they can to support local merchants and businesses during the pandemic.
