The Chair of the Bayfield and Area Chamber of Commerce says the 28-day lockdown that starts on Boxing Day is going to be very difficult for people in the retail and hospitality sectors in Bayfield.
And Leanne Kavanagh says it's often those people that keep the main street vibrant.
“They're very active participants on the main street in Bayfield and in small villages. So they're active participants because, not only do they bring people to town, they shop and operate within the village, so they're the ones that are going out and buying things and eating in the village as well,” said Kavanagh.
Kavanagh hopes at the end of the 28 days the targets will have been met and restrictions can be relaxed.
“I think it's going to be a hit for everybody and even if you were able to provide more of a service with your retail, there is the recommendation for people not to go anywhere, so it's kind of counter-active anyways. It's going to be interesting for the next 28 days,” added Kavanagh.
