Just over $3,000 will be used by a high school group in Exeter to buy some more recovery boxes for personal protective equipment.
South Huron District High School's Eco Exeter Team got the money through the federal government's Emergency Community Support Fund and Community Foundations of Canada.
Lucas Dobson says they will put more boxes in the community adding it's amazing how people have bought into the program.
“So we collect used PPEs, such as used masks, gloves and gowns. We currently have boxes at the Exeter Villa, South Huron District High School, Hansen's and Huron Centennial School and we're going to be able to buy 41 more to collect PPE,” said Dobson. “We're able to have everyone in the community come together with their used PPE and donate and first they incinerate it for clean energy and then they sift out the metal and all the reusable stuff and then use the leftovers for asphalt and brick.”
The Eco Exeter Team has its own Facebook page showcasing what's being done.
