UPDATE: Winter weather hits hard

Updated at 7:15 a.m.

The first real blast of winter is making it tough sledding on the roads.

There are no road closures to report but conditions are hazardous in areas.

Area highways are snow covered, slushy, and slippery.

The weather triggered school closures across Huron and Perth and  bus cancellations and closures in Bruce and Grey.

In North Wellington, buses were cancelled as well.

Visibility is good to fair for much of Grey and Bruce Counties. But Bruce County Roads reports reduced visibility and blowing snow in the Lucknow, Kincardine and Teeswater area. That's thanks to a strong north wind.

In Huron and Perth Counties, visibility is reduced to poor at times and roads are also snow covered and slippery to track bare and slippery. Bands of heavier snow fall are along the Highway 4 corridor from Clinton north past Wingham and along Highway 8 from Clinton east to Stratford. There is also heavier activity along 86 from Wingham through Listowel and east towards Kitchener.

Visibility is good in Wellington County but you will find roads to be snow covered and slippery.

The weather radar showing wide spread snow fall across the region. And it's also showing some heavier snow fall in the southern Bruce and northern Huron areas, stretching through Perth County and toward Kitchener.

Snowfall warnings are still in place for the Bruce Peninsula and southern Grey County with a winter storm warning for northern Grey County.

Special weather statement's are also in place for Huron and southern areas of Bruce County. And while there are no official warnings from Environment Canada for Perth County or northern areas of Wellington, those areas will see snow and gusty winds at times Tuesday.
