The Huron Perth District Catholic School Board is removing some barriers to learning by ensuring every student and educator has a Chromebook.
Superintendent of Education Karen Tigani said that gives everyone greater access to a variety of online tools that support teaching and learning.
She said it also makes online learning easier and available for everyone.
"Whatever the reason is that a person may not be able to report to school they are able to continue their learning using the Chromebook and the learning management system," she said.
Technology Learning Coordinator Kerri Lyn Courtney said it provides the tools they need to continue education even if they need to stay home due to COVID-19 precautions
"There's also a lot of creativity and innovation tools that students can leverage, all with a secure peace of mind from the board in terms of what is acceptable for use for students depending on their age, and of course privacy and security as well," she explained.
Students and families will be able to continue to work from home on inclement weather days and days where COVID-19 cases require remote learning.
"We are definitely prepared to continue providing instruction, teaching and learning, even on a snow day, because people will have what they need to access learning and that just wasn't something we could offer in the past," said Tigani.
