Two new businesses from opposite ends of the county are the latest beneficiaries of Huron County's Starter Company Plus program.
Warden Jim Ginn explains the County and the Province have partnered to provide training and mentoring as well as up to $5,000 to eligible people of all ages who want to start, expand, or buy a small business.
The program is administered by the County of Huron and aims to address local or regional economic development needs.
“There's a maximum of $5,000, so there's been two awarded and so it's to help people start a business, so hopefully they'll grow and learn and continue that business into the future,” said Ginn.
The winning businesses in the last round of funding are Jolt Fitness in Centralia, a new business start-up that officially opened its doors in September of this year and the Coastal Coffee Company in Kingbridge, a family-owned business with a passion for freshly roasted coffee.
Starter Company Plus program participants were required to submit a formal application, which included a business plan and cash-flow projections as well as participate in training sessions.
