Municipal resident survey completed with results aimed at improving services

The Voice of the Resident Survey in North Perth recently ended, as they try to find efficiencies in how they offer services.

Executive Coordinator & Policy Assistant Jessica McLean said the survey, which was created by KPMG Consultants, looked at all services offered by North Perth and asked residents to give their thoughts on how to potentially improve them for a more user friendly experience.

"What processes we offer to our residents, say when they're coming into the office to pay a bill, or when they're registering for a program online, and if they're facing any barriers in doing that and if there's any improvements that could be made."

The survey ended on November 12. McLean said KPMG Consultants wanted to find specific things that could help the municipality in the future with more than just streamlining for residents. But the survey did focus on how residents interact with municipal services.

"If the quality meets their expectations, if it's above or lower, and then kind of looking at what they experience when they use certain functions such as booking a facility or registering for a program."

McLean said North Perth is also looking for ways to reduce paper use, improve document and knowledge management and improve productivity of staff. She says the survey results will be turned around quite quickly and council will hear KPMG's recommendations soon. North Perth was awarded funding from Intake 1 of the Provincial Municipal Modernization Program to complete the third-party review with KPMG.
