Bruce Telecom is asking Kincardine and Port Elgin residents to join them in donating essentials for the holiday season.
The company is inviting people to stop by the Kincardine No Frills grocery store on November 12th, and Rowlands YIG grocery store on December 17th, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
They are looking for donations of non-perishable foods and hygiene products for the local food banks.
Bruce Telecom added these two events, after a successful trial in Chesley.
“After we had tremendous success in Chesley with our “fill the van” initiative, we decided to keep the momentum going. People were more than happy to be involved in supporting their community and we are hoping for the same success in Kincardine and Port Elgin,” says Stephanie Brunato, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Care Manager.
A release from Bruce Telecom outlines that COVID-19 has increased already chronic levels of food insecurity in communities across the country. It is estimated that demand for food relief has increased 20% to 40% since March, with as many as 14.6% of Canadians facing food concerns in their homes.
