The Municipality of Brockton is celebrating improvements at the Bruce Power Regional Soccer Park.
A six month $88,000 Capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation helped expand and improve field quality, including drainage from pitches three and four.
A media release issued by the municipality Monday said the initiative helped strengthen the soccer park’s infrastructure and continues to encourage lifelong physical activity and foster a more active lifestyle in Brockton.
“I’m so pleased that with the new upgrades to the Bruce Power Regional Soccer Park, more people will be able to enjoy the outdoors while staying physically active. This provincial investment is another great example of our government’s support for rural communities throughout Ontario,” said Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson.
“The Brockton Parks and Recreation Department is excited about the future of the Bruce Power Regional Soccer Fields with the completion of the drainage works for all four fields to significantly contribute towards improved turf quality and player safety as funded 100 per cent by a capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. This is another step forward in the development of the facilities helping to make Brockton a sport and recreation destination supporting healthy active living within southern Bruce County,” said Director of Community Services Mark Coleman.
The Bruce Power Regional Soccer Park is used by approximately 600 players ranging from four-year-olds to adults.
